A late Fofana double punishes a very solid CD Teruel at the Mini Estadi (2-0)

CD Teruel lost 2-0 to Villarreal B this Saturday at the Mini Estadi, on matchday eight of the Primera Federación, in a match in which Kiko Ramírez's side went toe to toe for 87 minutes with one of the strongest reserve teams in the division. Two goals from Fofana, the first two minutes from time and the second in the final play, decided a game in which the Rojillos deserved more.

Kiko Ramírez opted for a back five with a new face in the middle, Pablo Felipe: Zarco in goal; Borge at right-back, Nathanael, Álvaro López and Pablo Felipe as centre-backs and Joserra at left-back; Relu and Albisua in central midfield; Mario Sesé and Edu Gallardo on the wings; and Sergio Moreno up front.

The team grew through the work of its full-backs, who turned the back five into an accordion, while Relu and Albisua controlled midfield. Zarco dealt with the hosts' first attack, and once the Rojillo lines came together, CD Teruel kept the ball and broke forward dangerously. Sesé had a golden chance to make it 0-1 after a quarter of an hour following a pass from Gallardo, and on twenty minutes Sergio Moreno tried his luck from thirty metres with a shot heading for the top corner that the goalkeeper tipped behind.

Villarreal B stepped up towards the end of the first half and Nathanael cleared a ball off the line, but the full-backs' work in stopping the yellow wingers kept the team calm. Before the break, Sesé went on another great run that did not end in a shot.

After the restart, CD Teruel kept the ball as much as possible against an opponent looking for space after bringing on Viveros. Pablo Felipe cut out a dangerous cut-back and VAR disallowed an Ayman goal (55th minute) for a foul on Borge. The Rojillos pushed forward again: a combination between Sesé and Gallardo ended with an effort from Relu that went over, and several crosses came into the box down Joserra's flank.

Kiko Ramírez made changes in the 72nd minute, bringing on Goyo and Hugo Redón for Albisua and Sergio Moreno, and in the 82nd with Belevonis replacing Gallardo. Just when a draw looked secure, a cross from the left took a nasty deflection in the box and Fofana lobbed Zarco (88th minute). CD Teruel threw everything forward with Sander Ballero and Romera coming on in stoppage time. Borge sent in a driven ball that Belevonis nearly turned into the top corner, but in the last play, with the team pushing up, Fofana made it 2-0 on the counter (90+8th minute).

CD Teruel stay on five points and with the certainty that they can compete against any opponent. In addition, Sander Ballero returned to the pitch after recovering from injury. The next game is at the Estadio Pinilla against Águilas FC on Saturday, 24 October, at 18:45.
