First win of pre-season: CD Teruel beat Atletico Levante at Pinilla (2-1)

CD Teruel claimed their first win of pre-season on Tuesday, beating Atletico Levante 2-1 in the first friendly played at Pinilla, which once again showed that it always delivers. Kiko Ramírez's side displayed clear progress in just five days of work and keeps taking steps in building the project that will compete once more in Primera Federación.

The coach kept faith with what worked best in the opener against Petro de Luanda. In defence, Joserra started alongside Nathaniel Nicholas, Pablo Felipe and Andrés Borge; in midfield, Sander Ballero joined Hugo Redón and Miguel Romera; and in attack, Sergio Moreno and Mario Sesé lined up with Edu Gallardo.

The rojillos started with solid defensive foundations and constant projection towards the opposition box, with both wingers very lively — especially Sesé, tireless down the left. Despite the good start, the Levante reserve side went ahead past the twenty-minute mark in one of their first arrivals. The response was not long in coming: the team kept attacking the space behind the defence with purpose and, on 40 minutes, a collective move started by Nathaniel down the left channel ended with Edu Gallardo's equaliser. A flank that promises plenty of joy.

Rotations continued in the second half: Relu, Álvaro López, Lluís Llácer and Albisua came on and maintained control, even going close to the second goal during spells of real dominance in the opposition half. Then came the turns of Goyo Medina, Borikó, Rodri and Muzik, and in the final window Gucick, Dyma and academy player José Luis Calvé, on an evening when everyone contributed quality minutes.

Just when the game seemed headed for a draw, Borikó delivered a great cross from the right and Goyo Medina turned it into the definitive 2-1, sparking joy in the stands. The team keeps growing and is already thinking about the next step of its preparation: this Friday 8 August, again at Pinilla, against CD Castellón B (8:30 pm). Vamos Teruel!
