Kiko Ramírez: “A lot of respect, but no fear”

Kiko Ramírez met the press to look ahead to Monday's league opener against Real Madrid Castilla at Pinilla (21:15), the match that closes matchday one of Primera Federación. “The serious business starts now, the points are at stake,” said the coach, who wants his side “with every alarm system ready to go out and compete.”

The rojillo boss was pleased with the team's condition after the summer: “The team has grown game by game, is physically well and has clear ideas, which is what really matters. We are ready to compete for the almost one hundred minutes the match will last.”

On the game plan, he wants a compact Teruel with clear ideas, able to play every kind of football: combining with the ball, and running and pressing after losing it. The first objective, he stressed, is to be strong at home and take the three points in front of the fans.

About the opponent he highlighted their structure and individual talent: “A very well-structured reserve team with high-level players, many of whom will reach the elite. A lot of respect, but no fear.” Asked about the absences at right-back, he said he has “plan B ready, and plan C too,” and on the closing transfer window he referred to the sporting management: “Right now we are focused on this final.”

He closed with a message to the fans: “The supporters are our number 12. I would like everyone who wants to back us to be there, because unity is strength.” And on the dressing room: “There is chemistry in the whole squad and the whole club, and it will not depend on results.”

The full press conference is available on the club's official YouTube channel.
