Kiko Ramírez: «This dressing room has shown it is a great dressing room»

Kiko Ramírez spoke to the media ahead of the match against Villarreal B, which will be played this Saturday, 17 October, at 20:30, on matchday eight of the Primera Federación. The Rojillo coach talked about the week after the first win, the difficulty of the opponent and the state of the squad, with the good news of Sander Ballero's recovery.

The coach acknowledged that the week has been different: «The lads have been fighting all this time to get a win that I think is a great win, because it came at home, with our people and against a great opponent that were unbeaten. That has strengthened all of us». However, he reminded everyone that the competition gives no respite: «Now another great team is coming, one we know even better than Alcorcón. We already faced them here and they ran over us. It is going to be an extremely complicated match».

Asked what he is thinking about for Saturday, he was clear: «How nice it would be to get three points again. That is what I think about and what I dream about». Kiko Ramírez stressed his respect for the opponent, but also his ambition: «It is a difficult ground and a very difficult opponent, but we have to go all out. We have to go there to win».

On Villarreal B, he dismissed the idea that they are in a bad moment: «Not at all, and even less at home. They are a team with a lot of firepower, very good players and a clear idea: they do not let you breathe, they press high, their set pieces work well and they are very direct. They have it all». Even so, he recalled what his team experienced against Alcorcón: «In this competition sometimes you are not the better side and you can win. We do not necessarily have to be better; we have to compete well in the match and hope football gives us the reward of winning at a difficult ground».

As for the squad, he confirmed that Panagiotis Moraitis will be out for a couple more weeks and that the rest of the players are available, including Sander Ballero: «I am happy for Sander, because he was doing very well at the time and had that bad luck. Now we have one more player to push the team forward».

Finally, the coach highlighted the character of the group: «Great dressing rooms show themselves in bad moments. This team has been through very bad moments and has shown it is a great dressing room». He acknowledged that the win has brought a much-needed joy, but said his priority is to turn the page: «I want to focus right now on Villarreal B and play our cards against a team that is better than us in many things, but the match has to be played».
