Joserra and Zarco seal CD Teruel's first win of the season against AD Alcorcón at Pinilla (1-0)

CD Teruel claimed their first win of the season this Saturday at the Estadio Pinilla, beating AD Alcorcón (1-0) on matchday seven of the Primera Federación. A superb header from Joserra just before half-time and a stellar display from Amador Zarco in goal gave Kiko Ramírez's side three golden points against one of the teams in the top half of the table.

Kiko Ramírez named the same starting XI that competed against SD Huesca and Real Zaragoza: Zarco in goal; Borge, Álvaro López, Nathanael and Joserra in defence; Relu, Albisua and Hugo Redón in midfield; and Mario Sesé, Edu Gallardo and Sergio Moreno up front.

The team came out with real bite and looked to use the flanks from the start. A Sesé corner and a rebound that Albisua sent over the bar set the tone for an even, intense match, which Alcorcón gradually tilted towards the Rojillo box through the link-up between Aparicio and Davo. Zarco already had to tip a header that was heading inside the left post behind for a corner.

With Alcorcón pushing more and more, the Rojillos struck. A quick transition between Joserra and Sergio Moreno ended at the feet of Hugo Redón, who switched the play out to Edu Gallardo; his pinpoint cross found the head of Joserra, who had arrived in the box to make it 1-0 (42nd minute), a goal of real class. Alcorcón looked for an equaliser before the break, but Zarco denied them with a point-blank save, and in the long stoppage time VAR reviewed a possible handball in the Rojillo box without a penalty being awarded.

After the break, the visitors stepped up and searched for the equaliser with quick combinations in the final third, with Davo, Melero and Aparicio at the heart of it. In every one of those actions Zarco was there, making half a dozen outstanding saves to protect the lead and lift the spirits of the whole team. CD Teruel did not give up on attacking and, on the counter, Sergio Moreno and Joserra came close to sealing it. Kiko Ramírez brought on Borikó for Hugo Redón (61st minute) and, in the closing stages, Goyo and Romera (87th minute) and Pablo Felipe (90+4th minute).

Zarco's last big save, a low shot that he pushed behind for a corner, led into a long period of stoppage time in which the team overcame fatigue and still threatened with a final Joserra counter-attack before the referee blew the final whistle. Pinilla celebrated, on matchday seven, the first win of the campaign, achieved with a clean sheet, organisation and brave play both with and without the ball.

CD Teruel now have five points and will visit Villarreal B at the Mini Estadi next Saturday, 17 October, at 20:30.
