Hugo Redón: «It is time to get the win, and at home, where we are strong»

Hugo Redón spoke to the media ahead of the match against Águilas FC, which will be played this Saturday, 24 October, at 18:45 at the Estadio Pinilla, on matchday nine of the Primera Federación. The Rojillo midfielder talked about the hunger in the dressing room, the plan for the game and his role in Kiko Ramírez's side.

Redón was clear about the aim for the weekend: «We really want it. We know it is going to be difficult, because both teams are in a situation we do not want to be in, but it is time to get the win, and at home, where we are strong and where we have been picking up points lately». A victory, he explained, would be «that little step we need to move closer to getting out of the relegation places».

On the approach, the midfielder said CD Teruel will look to take the initiative: «We are going to try to be the protagonists for the whole match, keep the ball and, above all, be strong at the back, which is one of the qualities we have. We want things to flow and to have everything under control». He described Águilas as «one of the teams whose game is most similar to ours, with a more direct style», and added: «We are going to try to dominate them, pin them back, play in their half and create many more chances». He also referred to set pieces, which the team has been focusing on: «We have a very good test this weekend. We have put a lot of emphasis on it and we are more than prepared to stand up to them».

On a personal level, the midfielder said he is in good shape: «This year I feel really good physically and I think I am at a good level. If I get the chance this weekend, I am clear that I will be at one hundred per cent». He also explained why he feels at ease in Kiko Ramírez's system: «I feel very comfortable, because I am very committed defensively and he demands that, a compact block. In attack he gives me a certain freedom, and for my way of playing it suits me well to come and look for the ball or position myself a bit higher, in the spaces. I like receiving facing the play, but I also think I can do a lot of damage when I receive between the lines to move the play forward».

Asked about the team's attacking output, Redón acknowledged that it is one of the areas the team wants to improve: «We are trying to be more protagonists with the ball. We defend well in a mid and low block, but we need to create much more and be more involved in the game, because that is what gives you more chances».

Finally, the midfielder talked about the strength of the group. He singled out the captain, Relu, as the leading voice in the dressing room: «He is the one who talks the most on the pitch, who encourages the most and who pushes hardest when he needs to, and I think that does us all a lot of good». He also stressed that the new players have understood from the start what the club means: «From day one everyone has been aware of the club we are at and that the city always gives a lot of support. We know we have to give two hundred per cent, and that is the mindset we are in».
