Goyo Medina: «We are more united than ever to get the three points away from home»

Goyo Medina spoke to the media ahead of the match against UE Sant Andreu, which will be played this Saturday, 31 October, at 16:00 at the Narcís Sala, on matchday ten of the Primera Federación. The Rojillo defender, who scored the equaliser against Águilas FC, talked about the mood in the dressing room after the change on the bench, the first sessions with Daniel González and the desire to secure a first away win.
Goyo explained that the team's focus is solely on the match: «Regardless of who is leading the team, we have to focus on getting the three points this weekend. It is a vital match and I see the team really up for it, like every week. We are eager for the good results to start coming. I think we are working well and I have full confidence in the team». On the atmosphere in the dressing room, he was clear: «There has been a lot of commotion these days because of the change of coach, but the team is focused on what it has to be focused on. We are a very good dressing room and very good people, and this weekend we are more united than ever to get the three points and win away from home».
The defender described Daniel González's first steps in charge: «Every coach has his own way of playing. Dani wants to bring back what we had last year, a team that is strong at the back, and up front he gives us a lot of freedom. In the days we have had to work with him, he has been trying to put his system in place». Goyo added that the idea is to return to a back five: «It will give us more security at the back and help us gain confidence. A team is built from the back, and then up front everyone has to bring out what they have».
On Sant Andreu, who also have a new coach and are playing at a ground they have not used yet this season, Goyo warned it will be a tough game, but without fear: «Away from home it is always going to be difficult, but we are not afraid of facing any opponent. We have talked about it in the dressing room: we want to win away from home, it is time, and there is no better setting than doing it this weekend against a direct rival».
On a personal level, the defender acknowledged that he has not played a big role at the start of the season, but that his way of working has not changed: «Now with Dani a door opens, not only for me but also for other players who have not had the chance from the start. I work the same every day and, if I get the chance to play this weekend, I want to make the most of it and try to win a place in the starting eleven».
Finally, asked about his stoppage-time goal against Águilas, Goyo saw it as a possible turning point: «A draw is better than a defeat, that is clear, but we have to go out to win matches, especially at home. The fans are giving us a huge amount of support and I think this weekend the team will want to turn this around».
