CD Teruel close pre-season against Villarreal B at Pinilla (0-2)

CD Teruel closed their pre-season on Friday with a defeat against Villarreal B (0-2) at the Pinilla Stadium, in a highly demanding match that offered useful conclusions one week before the league opener.

The yellow reserve side, a well-established team with great fluidity, took the initiative in the first half. Kiko Ramírez's men, conditioned by several absences in the back line, worked to build from the back against the visitors' intense pressing. Villarreal B turned their control into goals before the break: Pablo Pascual opened the scoring in the 29th minute at the end of a fine collective move and, just seven minutes later, a transition led by Fofana ended with Albert García making it 0-2.

The second half showed a much more recognisable rojillo side. Kiko Ramírez adjusted the shape to a back three and Teruel gained intensity and presence in the opposition half. Hugo Redón took on a leading role, Sesé found spaces to run at defenders and Pinilla saw a more aggressive version of their team, which created chances even though the goal would not come.

The substitutions brought energy. Moraitis and Belevonis made their debuts despite having trained very little with the group, and the Greek striker showed interesting touches close to the box: he had two opportunities and displayed mobility, pressing ability and sharp finishing. Goyo Medina also stood out, playing in several positions, adding dynamism between the lines and coming close to scoring after a fine attacking move, denied by a great save from the visiting goalkeeper.

The result does not change the preparatory nature of the match. Kiko Ramírez himself noted that the scoreline “puts the team on alert”, a valuable reading ahead of what is to come. Pre-season is now history: on Monday 31 August, Real Madrid Castilla will visit Pinilla on matchday one of Primera Federación. That is where the real journey of this new CD Teruel begins, and the team wants to start it backed by its fans.
