CD Teruel fall at Pinilla to Real Jaén in a match decided by a set piece (0-1)

CD Teruel fell this Saturday at the Estadio Pinilla to Real Jaén (0-1), in the match corresponding to the third round of Primera Federación. A Siverio goal in the second half, from a corner kick, decided an evenly matched contest in which the rojillo side competed from start to finish in front of their fans.

The rojillo coach, Kiko Ramírez, once again introduced changes to the starting line-up. The team lined up with a back four, with Borge returning at right-back, Joserra on the left flank and Álvaro López and Relu as the centre-back pairing. Albisua and Romera occupied the engine room, with Gallardo and Sesé ahead of them, and a forward line formed by Moraitis as the focal point and Sergio Moreno in the number ten role.

The first twenty minutes were dominated by the visitors, with Real Jaén precise in their passing and guided by Moha and Castillo. Zarco responded with two decisive interventions against Siverio to preserve the initial deadlock. From the half-hour mark, the Teruel side grew through Sesé, who won the ball and drove forward on an individual run that ended in a shot off target. In the rojillos' best spell, Gallardo struck the post and Moraitis tried his luck with an effort before half-time, which was reached goalless.

After the restart, CD Teruel maintained their positive momentum and created a clear chance from a long move between Gallardo and Moraitis that Borge fired over the bar. However, from a corner kick, Siverio made the most of the opportunity to establish the 0-1 scoreline that would ultimately prove decisive.

With half an hour remaining, Kiko Ramírez turned to his bench and brought on Llácer, Nicholas, Redón, Borikó and Belevonis in search of a reaction. The team tried mainly from set pieces, while Real Jaén looked to seal the match on the counter-attack, but the scoreline did not change again.

The rojillo side have one point after the first three rounds and will continue working during the week to prepare for the next league fixture, with the conviction that the team competes and is up to the standard of the division.
