CD Teruel fall to Rayo Majadahonda in a match once again decided from set pieces (2-0)

CD Teruel were beaten by Rayo Majadahonda this Saturday at the Estadio Cerro del Espino (2-0), on matchday four of the Primera Federación. Goals from Manín and Cambra, both from set pieces in the second half, settled a match in which the Rojillo side produced a good first half and came close to scoring in the closing stages.
Kiko Ramírez started with Zarco in goal; Borge, Pablo Felipe, Álvaro López and Joserra in defence; Albisua, Relu and Romera in midfield; and Sesé, Gallardo and Moraitis up front.
The team came out full of energy and well organised, with a high press that made it hard for the hosts to play out from the back in the opening minutes. The Rojillos looked to do damage down the flanks, with Sesé very lively on the left, and the first chances of the match were theirs, although they could not find the target against Prieto. The clearest came from a long ball in behind the defence that Borge was unable to control inside the area. The hosts' Ale Díez received the first yellow card of the match (12th minute).
As the minutes passed Rayo Majadahonda grew into the game and the final stretch of the first half belonged to the home side. Albisua (27th minute) and Gallardo (42nd minute) were booked, Ale Díez struck the woodwork (35th minute) and Zarco, who had already dealt safely with the earlier attacks, produced a fine save from Cambra to ensure the sides went in level at the break.
After the restart, CD Teruel struggled to recover the rhythm of the opening spell. In the 52nd minute, a wide free kick delivered by Ale Díez found Manín, who headed home to make it 1-0. Kiko Ramírez turned to his bench straight away, bringing on Hugo Redón and Sergio Moreno for Albisua and Moraitis (57th minute). The team stepped forward: Prieto denied Sergio Moreno the equaliser and the Rojillos began to attack with far more continuity.
Borikó and Belevonis came on for Pablo Felipe and Romera (70th minute) to sustain that momentum, but the visitors' best spell was met by the hosts' second goal: Cambra converted a corner taken by Raúl Hernández to make it 2-0 (77th minute). Goyo replaced Borge in the 84th minute and CD Teruel kept trying until the end: Prieto, with a fine save and the help of the post, denied the Rojillos a goal in the final minutes, and in added time an incident involving Sesé inside the area was reviewed with no penalty awarded.
The Rojillo side remain on one point after the first four matchdays and will keep working during the week to prepare their next league fixture, in which they host Huesca at the Estadio Pinilla on Sunday 27 September at 19:00.
