CD Teruel fall to Petro de Luanda in their pre-season opener (0-2)

CD Teruel began their pre-season this Thursday with a 0-2 defeat against Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, the most successful club in Angolan football, in a match played in Benasque. It was the first international match in the club's history and the opening game of the preparation, decided by a brace from Jonathan Toro.
The start was uphill. In the third minute, after a good combination down the right and a cut-back into the box, Toro put his side ahead with a finish Zarco could do nothing about. Teruel tried to level the game, but the 1-0 held until half-time.
The restart was no better for Kiko Ramírez's men: a poor build-up ended in a turnover and Toro finished with class into the far post to make it 0-2. Despite the Teruel side's insistence, the score did not move again.
Beyond the result, the team put in a competitive display in a project still under construction, with many new players in a squad taking shape. Teruel now face five more friendlies: Levante B on 4 August and Castellón's reserve side on the 8th, both at Pinilla; Valencia Mestalla and S.D. Huesca away on the 12th and 16th; and Villarreal B at home to close the pre-season.
