Teruel City Council to provide an extra €235,000 to secure CD Teruel's future
Teruel City Council will provide CD Teruel with an extraordinary grant of €235,000 to pay off half of the club's debt, which stands at around half a million euros and was putting its continuity at risk. The Mayor of Teruel, Emma Buj, and the President of CD Teruel, Santiago Gonzalvo, announced the cash injection this Thursday, which will allow the Rojillo club to carry on with its sporting project.
The new contribution comes on top of the ordinary grant of €130,000 that the City Council gives the club every season. Gonzalvo explained that, without this support from the council, CD Teruel faced the risk of being dissolved or dropping two divisions, which would have taken it out of the Primera Federación, the division it currently shares with Real Zaragoza and SD Huesca as representatives of Aragonese football.
With this measure, the club takes a decisive step towards putting its finances in order and guaranteeing the stability of an institution that has been part of the life of the city and the province since 1943. The agreement allows CD Teruel to look to the future with greater peace of mind and to focus its efforts on the pitch, in the middle of its season in the Primera Federación.
