Edu Gallardo: «It has been quite easy for me to settle in at Teruel»

Edu Gallardo spoke to the media ahead of the match against Villarreal B, which will be played this Saturday, 17 October, at 20:30, on matchday eight of the Primera Federación. The Rojillo winger talked about the boost provided by the first win of the season, the role Kiko Ramírez asks of him and how he has settled in at Teruel.

Gallardo acknowledged that the week has felt different after the win over AD Alcorcón: «We needed it. In football, what people look at is the points you have, and we needed that first win to turn the momentum around a bit, change the mood and keep going for more». He explained that winning makes the group approach training differently: «When you manage to get the three points, it means you worked well that week, and that helps you keep going».

On Villarreal B, he described them as «a very difficult opponent» and said the team will adapt to their characteristics, although he preferred not to give away any more clues. On a personal level, he explained why he has been playing more centrally rather than hugging the touchline in recent matches: «The coach really insists that he likes the wingers to come inside. I try to help the team in every way possible, and if the coach asks me to do that, I am always willing».

Gallardo, who provided the cross for Joserra's goal against Alcorcón, went back over that move: «The coach wants us to be direct in the final third when we receive the ball and can turn. Joserra plays two one-twos, finds Hugo inside, we switch the play and luckily we get it right and score».

Finally, the winger from Palencia talked about his arrival at Pinilla after four seasons at CF Talavera, a club he holds very dear. «I thought it would be harder for me to settle in, but thanks to the city, the club and the board, it has honestly been quite easy», he said. He also had words for the Rojillo fans: «They are a really good set of supporters. Despite the results we had, it is worth recognising that they have not had a bad word or a bad gesture and have been cheering us on the whole time».
