Bebé: «I believe we are going to get out of where we are»

Bebé was presented on Friday as a new CD Teruel player and spoke to the media in his first press conference as a Rojillo, two days before UD Ibiza, his last club, visit the Estadio Pinilla. The 36-year-old attacker made his ambition clear from the outset: «I have not come here to retire. I know I am 36, but I feel very good. I am here to contribute a lot, score goals, be important and start winning matches so that Teruel get out of where they are».
The player explained that his move came together very quickly and that Sergio Moreno, his former team-mate at Rayo Vallecano, was key: «I spoke to Sergio, whom I have trusted for many years, and told him I was waiting for something and wanted to play. He asked me why I did not come here and I said yes straight away. He put me in touch with the club and it all happened very quickly». Bebé admitted he was eager to get back: «I am very happy to be here. I had been out for a while and I really wanted to train again, to feel the dressing room and to be with team-mates».
The attacker said he is convinced the team can turn things around: «I have watched some CD Teruel matches and it is a team with quality that knows how to play. It lacked a bit of goals and more personality when attacking the opposition goal, but with work and time we will definitely achieve it». He also wants to help off the pitch: «I have a lot to offer on and off the pitch. With my experience I think I can help the young players a lot to get out of where we are».
On his fitness, Bebé admitted he is not yet at one hundred per cent, although he is feeling better and better: «In these three training sessions I have felt good, and within two weeks I will feel much better and be able to contribute much more». Even so, he does not rule out getting minutes on Sunday against Ibiza «to try to score a goal». As for his position, he explained that although he had been playing on the wing, he does not mind playing closer to goal: «I do not dislike it. It is a matter of working and adapting, and I will be willing to do whatever the coach asks».
Bebé thanked the dressing room for their welcome: «They have welcomed me very well, with a lot of respect, and they are looking after me a lot. It is a humble club, and I really like things like that. I identify with humble clubs and I think it is going to be a very successful season». He also recalled his time at Real Zaragoza, which he remembers fondly, although he made it clear that he now only thinks about Teruel.
Finally, he sent a message to the Rojillo fans: «I hope they come to the stadium and support us, because the fans are very important for teams». CD Teruel host UD Ibiza this Sunday, 8 November, at 12:00 at the Estadio Pinilla.
